How many trips does it take?

Yesterday a friend of my daughter's gave her a gift card to Border's as a Christmas gift, since she loves books this is a great gift for her. Money & Gift Cards burn holes in her purses so she wanted to go shopping immediately! So I took her today after school. She spent 20 min, looking, thinking, mulling, and (finally) deciding. We had 3 books for her & 1 for mommy in our hands ready to go.

Trip #1: We are about to get into the line when she remembers another book she has been wanting and wants to see if they have it and if it fits her budget. A few min. later we have the new book in hand...

Trip #2: We are checking out and when she reaches in for her gift card...it's gone! So we spend 10 min. retracing out steps and find the it (whew!)

Trip#3: We have just finished checking out and I notice my little one is holding "herself"...we hand the books back to the same cashier and head to the potty.

Trip#4: We walk back up and the cashier hands us our books and we are finally able to leave the store.

So it apparently takes 4 trips to the cashier in order to buy 3 books for a 7 year old and 1 for mommy.
