So last Wednesday my oldest daughter started Kindergarten. We spent the night before bathing, doing her nails, lotion on her skin, all the girly getting ready for a big day kind of stuff!!
It was a beautiful and emotional day. She woke up ready and excited for the first day of Big Girl school. We put on her new pink shirt and skirt (her favorite color of course!) and headed down for breakfast, scrambled eggs & cheese please. Daddy ditched work and at 8am we walked to school...well actually She skipped and I drug my feet a bit! Her teacher invited all of us in for the first day and she read us "The Kissing Hand" by Audrey Penn, a beautiful story, and extremely appropriate for the day. We followed the story and gave kisses and were asked to leave our babies in the teacher competent hands. My husband and I walked home and used our extra time and nervous energy to run some errands. We sat in the parking lot for 15 minutes and watched her eat lunch with her friends...bless the Lord about 4 other girls from her preschool are in her kinder class so she started the first day with friends already!!!! On the way home she reported that it was a wonderful day and she was excited to go to bed and get up the next day for school...if only she'll still be this excited several years from now! :)
A week has gone by and she STILL loves Kindergarten. Today we got our first batch of homework, and she was even happy to do that! We are working on her first list of sight words. I can't believe my little girl will be able to read and write in just a few months...boggles this mommies head!
My other baby starts preschool next month...oiy!

Yea for the blog and yea for Katie! David and I were both surprised that it was time for that already. I had just run across a picture of the two of us with Katie at Steph's wedding. She was a little bit of a thing. Time flies. We're trying not to blink. XOXO
